Otter family at the Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver, BC

While our friends went to watch the orca/beluga whale show at the Vancouver Aquarium, we visited the zoo (yes, there was a zoo in Stanley Park until 1996). Founded in the late 1800s, it started with an orphaned black bear cub that was captured and placed in the park. When we visited in 1990, over 50 West Coast species were on display and we especially liked the lightning-fast antics of a family of otters. They knew they were the stars of the show!
